“Nature’s velcro” is how one park ranger described plant burrs in an article in Science News, vol 154, p244 about plant burrs that stick to bird’s feathers, animal fur and people’s clothes. A perceptive reader wrote (SN Vol 154, p339) to remind the park ranger and Science News readers that he had it backwards Velcro is actually man made burrs.

Editorial Comment: Velcro is one of numerous inventions that were inspired by an already existing model in nature. It took intelligent observation and skill to copy burrs and make Velcro, but it took a greater intelligence to make a burr plant, not copied from Velcro and made from nothing but raw materials as described in Genesis 1.
