No doubting Darwin in Darby, according to a report in Science, vol. 304, p939, 14 May 2004. In February, the school board of Darby, Montana voted for an “objective origins” course that included getting students to “analyse scientific strengths and weakness of existing scientific theories, including the theory of evolution”. This caused considerable uproar, with threats of litigation against them. However, the creationists were quashed after new school board elections voted Erik Abrahamsen onto the board, tipping the balance of power in favour of the evolutionists.
Editorial Comment: What are the evolutionists afraid of? Analysing strengths and weaknesses of any scientific theory is good science and good scholarship. The fact that they have to resort to political battles and legal threats indicates they really know the theory of evolution will not stand up to honest scrutiny. (Ref. education, evolution, politics)
