Drug-resistant virus. “A drug-resistant strain of the hepatitis B virus (HBV) has been identified by researchers at the Victorian infectious Diseases laboratory in Melbourne. The virus was present in several hepatitis B and H IV-infected patients being treated with Lamivudine. Lead author, Dr Angeline Barthololeusz, says the study of 33 patients found that 13 of them showed resistance to the antiviral drug. The findings will be presented at the international Congress of Antiviral Research in the US this month.” ( Sydney Morning Herald , 10 April, 2003, p25)

Editorial Comment: Drug resistance is a classic case of Natural Selection which does not increase the genome, but decreases it, selecting only those organisms already resistant. It is classic non-evolution, which is blindly promoted as evidence of evolution.
