Identified: Plants in St Louis limestone. Another first for Creation Researchers as more Giant Tassel Ferns (Lepidodendron) are excavated, mapped and identified alongside marine brachiopods in the oil bearing, Lower Mississippian, St Louis limestone of Middle Tennessee. There is no doubt that this is a flood deposit (mixed land and sea creatures) and preliminary indications show the plants have come from the west and have been current deposited in a similar direction to plants in our previous discovery (2001) in Upper Mississippian limestones and shales. It is highly unlikely the same current was in operation for some 30 million years, so the implication is both Upper and Lower Mississippian rocks comes from the one flood event. Bob Powell, Bob Stewart and John Mackay continue to research this exciting find.
