Cyclones, heatwaves, droughts and floods are our fault, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in their Sixth Assessment Report 9 August 2021. They state: “It is unequivocal that human influence has warmed the atmosphere, ocean and land. Widespread and rapid changes in the atmosphere, ocean, cryosphere and biosphere have occurred”.
The report goes on to state: “Human-induced climate change is already affecting many weather and climate extremes in every region across the globe. Evidence of observed changes in extremes such as heatwaves, heavy precipitation, droughts, and tropical cyclones, and in particular, their attribution to human influence, has strengthened since the Fifth Assessment Report (AR5)”.

Editorial Comment: Here in Australia we are very familiar with heatwaves, floods, droughts and cyclones – they have been going on for as long as people have been here to record them. Climate change is real, but what or rather ‘Who’ is causing it.
Creation Research is currently excavating the evidence of a much larger flood than any the IPCC are referring to. At our Jurassic Ark site we have found a huge mass of fossilised logs that have been broken up and dumped in a mass of sediment. We know from geological surveys that these are part of an enormous rock formation that covers almost a third of the area of mainland Australia. This is a powerful reminder that the world was once completely flooded and destroyed.
In a way it was our fault, but not because we burned too much coal and oil or farmed too many methane producing cows. It was because sinful people had filled the beautiful world God created with corruption and violence, and God the Creator and Judge sent the Flood to destroy the earth (Genesis 6:13). After the flood God promised there would be periods of heat and cold until the end of the world (Genesis 8:22), and that is what we have observed ever since. Since then God has continued to use the climate to carry out His purposes in judgement and salvation (e.g. see 2 Kings 3:16-20).
At the time of the worldwide flood God saved Noah and his family and many animals. He has also saved us from the root cause of the corruption – human sin. God came to earth as the man Jesus Christ, who paid the penalty for sin, so that all who put their trust in Him can look forward to eternal life on a new earth where there will be no climate disasters.
