“Make our planet great again”, says President of France Emmanuel Macron, according to BBC News 1 June 2017.
Following US President Donald Trump’s announcement on withdrawing from the Paris climate agreement Macron set up a project “to lead (and win!) this battle on climate change”. (Item in brackets in original) He goes on to state: “The planet needs your innovative skills. So, are you IN to change (literally!) our daily lives and make our planet great again?”
Editorial Comment: We would remind the President of France and his followers, that this planet was great when God created it and declared it to be “very good” (Genesis 1:31), but it remained that way only until man sinned and God cursed the ground as part of his judgement on sinful humanity. From then on the planet has been going downhill, and is heading to destruction (2 Peter 3:7-10) and nothing he or anyone else can do can make it great again. Haven’t you noticed that God has never called the world good since Genesis 3?
However, God also sent Jesus to die for man’s sin and rise from the dead so that people could have life on a great planet, but not on this one. Anyone who wants to live a great planet needs to repent of their sin, receive forgiveness and new life in Christ, and then they can look forward to eternal life in a New Heaven and Earth, where there will be no more curse. (Revelation chapters 21-22)
