Truth is always simple – it’s lies that get complicated. Someone asked me how many atheists I’ve met so I told him I haven’t met any atheists, just a lot of liars! God is dogmatic that we all know and we all understand and none of us have any excuse (Romans 1:20). It’s a simple truth but even we who are Christians like to lie about it, even to ourselves. Surely renowned academics, philosophers or even clergy who claim to be atheists must be taken seriously – yes there are clergy in pulpits and theological colleges claiming atheism. The Creator Sovereign God states otherwise.

What about the simple truth of Psalm 40 verse 3 in a Covid crisis? The Psalmist wrote that God had “put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord”. Praise … see … fear … trust … what an unexpected truth!

Can we encourage you to realise that the value of praising the Creator Jesus Christ even in bad times, has a public blessing in mind … the salvation of your unbelieving neighbours and friends who have noticed God’s Grace at work in you … that they need. If you have problems with the situation then take your complaints to the Lord privately, but show your praise of Him and His works publicly, so that “many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord”.
